Why GPS is under attack (link). 'The U.S. is lagging behind in this new competition in space. GPS satellites are getting old, many exceeding the designed lifespan of 8 to 15 years, and the U.S. has been slow to replace them.'
On the boom of Chinese-designed EREVs and why you are going to hear a lot more about them (link). This is likely the path you will see VW Scout head in -- and a number of other brands we previously considered to be 'EV only,' as EREVs do not require the complexity of letting the ICE directly turn the drive wheels. As the author points out 'Soon, if not already, EV-only makers will be in the minority.'
Battery maker SK On declares 'emergency' as EV sales disappoint (link). 'More radical solutions are also being discussed within the South Korean SK Group conglomerate. One option under consideration, according to a person familiar with the conglomerate’s thinking, is that SK On’s parent, SK Innovation, will be merged with SK E&S, the group’s highly profitable energy affiliate that specialises in liquid natural gas production. The potential merger is set to be discussed at the board level this month.' This is one of the most significant battrey suppliers for a number of automakers.
